What can I say? Tattu is one of the most beautiful places I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. The service is great. The food is divine and the atmosphere is beautiful. You really are immersed in a sensory experience of the current season; For us, it was Summer.

The music is carefully selected, the decor is vibrant and the menu is fresh and tasty. It was that good, I went twice in the space of 3 days! We visited for my friends hen day and then I immediately booked it for my birthday.

I have now experienced the restaurant on both a weekend and a weekday; Both great experiences but huge differences in how busy they are. Despite weekends being very busy, the service runs smooth and the wait for food is minimal, whilst still delivering amazing food.

Tattu being a Chinese restaurant, have a yin and yang concept. The upstairs is a light coloured, warmly lit, relaxing experience in contrast with the downstairs being dark, rich and cosy. Both are beautiful but for me, it has to be Yin, the darker experience.

Both times I visited Tattu, we enjoyed some of the cocktails such as Skull candy, Cherry blossom negroni (Which wasn’t to my liking), Lucky number 8, plum sake, tattu twinkle and lights & miscellany. All of them were delightful and beautifully presented.

The food was absolutely divine! Perfection is the correct and only word to use. For my birthday visit we chose from the A La Carte menu. I chose the shiitake bao which are more like dumplings than the bao buns I have tried, but they were absolutely delicious. The texture was gorgeous and they were tasty and induced pure contentment from the first bite. I also ordered a side of tender stem broccoli with black sesame and truffle, and the tattu candy rice alongside my main of mock chicken and black bean with asparagus and mange tout. My main was lovely. It was full of flavour, without being overwhelming and had the perfect amount of saltiness. The rice, broccoli and mock chicken were cooked perfectly (I’m craving it…).

Lewis had the pulled pork gyoza, which he loved. They were the perfect mix of crispy and soft. He then went with the Japanese Black Wagyu (the most expensive option..because he’s worth it), served on a Himalayan salt rock, accompanied by enoki mushroom and a banana, shallot soy. He was in awe. It was perfectly cooked and just the right amount, despite seeming small. He was contently full after finishing. He paired this with the duck egg and Chinese sausage fried rice. He thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal.

During my first visit I had a slightly different main. It was the Mongolian mock beef with sesame, soy and peppers. It was mouth watering, rich and spicy. Towards the end of the dish my mouth was tingling but it was worth it! My one piece of feedback would be to have the ‘candy rice’ be slightly sweeter to help counteract the spiciness of the dishes, but beautiful nonetheless.

So, I love puddings and making them, but truth be told, I am not a sweet type of person (No, I’m sweet I just don’t eat lots of sweet things). This was the only option for me, as a vegan, and it was super tasty but very sweet and rich. Each component was beautiful alone and together. The sauces were lovely and they all complimented the other. Sadly I could only eat around a quarter as I was so full!

At the end of my birthday meal, they suprised me with a fortune cookie and chocolate writing saying ‘Happy birthday’. Inside the fortune cooking was this lovely little message reading “Happy birthday! Lots of love from TATTU xxx” which was just lovely. A few bits of feedback would be to make the candy rice sweeter and to have more vegan options on the menu.

Overall, the experience was delightful. It was luxurious, comforting and fresh. The food, atmosphere, decor, service and the entire place was breathtaking. Although it is a higher pricing restaurant, it is so worth the money. The food is clearly cooked with love and the waiters, hosts and bar staff make the experience a breeze. I still haven’t stopped talking about it to everyone I see!

Ten out of ten would recommend! Even if it is just once. You will not regret it.

Thank you for reading this post. I hope you enjoyed it. Stay wonderful!
