Makeup Revolution: Advent Calendar | Product review + Mystery gift bag

9th January 2020 Be first to comment

The Revolution Advent calender

I decided to buy this calendar as a small gift for myself after a year of incredible hardships. I felt I deserved a little something to look forward to, so this was the perfect thing and came with a free mystery gift bag! Here is a small review of the products that came in the Calendar and mystery bag!

Various makeup Pencils

Here is a lovely medium brown toned eyebrow pencil. It is what it is really hehe! I have found good use of it since opening it and it’s luckily the perfect shade for my brows and skin tone.Β

It’s easy to use, good quality and long lasting. Everything you need and want in an eyebrow pencil.

One thing I really needed was a black eye liner pencil so when I opened the door to this I was chuffed.Β

It’s a regular, simple black pencil that does the trick nicely. Easy to use and carry in your bag. Used for bold or blended looks.

This lip pencil is lovely. In the shade ‘Chauffeur’ it’s a lovely mix between nude and pink. It’s great to line the lips with or using all over which I usually do. It’s a lovely matte look and feels comfortable and weightless on the lips. It’s a nice one for on the go throughout the day and for a night out too! It’s also long lasting which makes a product even better.

Lip Product

This liquid lipstick truly is to die for! It’s the most wonderful red lippy I have ever owned and I say that very seriously.
It’s beautifully pigmented; Pure red which can be difficult to get due to some turning up pink on lips and skin etc.Β

It dries to matte but still holds it light glow. It is super long lasting and I have tested this on a number of occasions during night outs, work days, in the rain and also whilst out for food. It is actually difficult to remove which makes it a fantastic quality product for so many purposes as well as looking damn fine!

I’ve never really been a lip gloss kinda girl but I was really excited when I opened the door to find this clear lip gloss.

It’s cooling, comfortable and the perfect handbag essential for days out when you’re in need of a glossy top up to get you through the day whilst looking glowing and gorgeous.
If you don’t do coloured Lips, but you like a shiny natural look, this bad boy may just make your dreams come true. Easy to wear, looks great. What more can you ask for?

This first ‘Amazing’ Lipstick I got in the calendar is lovely. It’s subtle, simple and the perfect best friend to those who love rocking nudes.Β
It’s a fairly generic nude shade and is super easy on the lips. It’s comfortable to wear for long amounts of time, easy to top up and carry in your purse.Β

It’s the perfect mixture of glossy and matte and is super light on the lip surface. It feels as though you haven’t even got lippy on which for some I know is very important as some lipsticks are heavy to wear and it can be uncomfortable.

The same goes for the second one that came in the calendar at a later date. This one is more of a pink shade which for me isn’t my type of thing at all. It’s a beautiful subtle shade and my Mum loved it! My friend also had a look through the products and loved this one too.Β

Β

This lip gloss it’s really nice. Again it’s comfortable and easy to wear and simple to keep topped up during a long day at work and play!

It’s a nice subtle pink and it shimmers gorgeously. It’s the perfect lipgloss for rocking professionally, casually or even glamorously. It’s one to stock up on.Β

Brushes

These brushes are super cute and are so good for popping in a travel bag during your day trips and on your holidays!
They really are the perfect size for your handbag and going out makeup bag. They are good quality and soft on the skin.

Powders and highlighters

This shimmering white baked highlighter is truly glorious! It’s such a gorgeous highlighter for stand-out looks and those days you need that extra bit of shimmer and sparkle.

It’s easy to apply and a little really does go a long way. The shimmer effect when your face hits the light is incredible.Β

Blending it in can give a beautiful glow whilst keeping it subtle and applying lots with turn your night into a glowing glorious evening! Whatever suits your occasion and feeling best, this baked highlighter has your back.

This baked highlighter is super similar to the first one however it’s a little more subtle and has a beautiful light pink within it. For some skin tones this pink shade will work better, just as for others the white one will work better.Β

I love both of them for different occasions and makeup looks. They are the best highlighters I have ever owned; I mean I haven’t owned loads but these blew me away even from first glance.

Wear these and see how many compliments you get. Go bold highlighter or go home!

This pressed highlighter is a very subtle wear. It carries shades of white, pink and slight nudes. It shimmers nicely without being too bold and out there.Β

I definitely would recommend this for those looking for a more subtle highlighter within their looks. It’s great for blending in and looks gorgeous as eyeshadow too.Β

It’s super small and easy to pop in your bag during a night out or taking it on your holidays!

This pressed contour is lovely and subtle. It’s a mix of nude and brown and really good for those of a lighter complexion which was great for me personally.Β

It may not work for other skin types and complexions but I do love the idea of opening the calendar and anything that isn’t for you, passing it round to friends or as a giveaway.Β

Again like them all, it’s pocket sized and perfect for taking out in your bag or on holiday for any little top ups needed throughout the day.

Although I don’t use blusher due to being super pale, I really appreciate this lil product when I opened the calendar.Β

It’s not really me as I’m more of the bronzer and contour kinda gal. Since I know my friends love blushers, I’m going to give this to them as I want to make sure it’s being used and appreciated for the awesome blusher it is.

It’s a lovely colour and can be made light and subtle or bold and bright depending on how much you use.

I enjoyed having this in my calendar as it made me try something new and allowed me to try a different colour on my pale skin over the cold months.

Β

This is much more up my street!

I love earthy colours to lift my pale complexion and stand out. It is the perfect colour for my skin and has a lovely shimmer to it, perfect for colder seasons where your skin is feeling drained, dry and dull.

If you’re a bronzer queen or king, this one may be perfect for you. I know I love it for on the go looks and on trips where I only take a small bag.

I love my baking powder from Revolution so when I saw this I was thrilled.Β

One thing I will say is that it didn’t match my skin type at all. It was almost orange-y and didn’t work well with my routine, however I know a friend who will really make use of it and let’s face it, that’s what beauty lines should be all about; Accommodating for all shades.

Palettes

This palette was a lovely surprise for Christmas day! What a great way to start Christmas with a lovely full sized Revolution palette. After all, Revolution are my favourite brand!

This palette is pure wonder for me personally. I love the shimmery colours as they are beautiful and earthy yet there is such a variety. Overall it is an earthy palette with some pops of brightness in there. It is great for a number of different styles, looks and skin colours. I love the autumn feel of it, obviously! Overall I was so happy with this and it has come in good use since opening it. I can’t wait to create looks this year with this palette. Subtle or stand out, this ones grand.

This is such a cute lil palette. It’s got some subtle earthy colours and some stand out numbers too. I’m in love with the glittery deep black as I think it is perfect for creating those smoky eye looks and dark goddess type styles. With the deep shimmery burgundy and glowing gold it is such a luxurious set of colours that just looking at makes you want to pop out the bold eyes and bursting lips and strut your stuff.

Misc!

Having never used a liquid highlighter before, I was literally smiling so much when I opened the door and found this wonder. It is glowing, holds a gorgeous nude-brown colour and is really easy to apply. I love the mix of the packaging colour and product colour as they just go so well. I know it’s a weird thing to comment on but come on, who doesn’t love a good packaging comment?Β

It’s a quality product. It’s long lasting, shimmery, golden and makes my highlighter dreams come true. It’s perfect for my tired, drained skin over these winter months when I need a colour pick me up to help my face glow.

When I saw the shape of the door in the Calendar I was picking my brain at what it could be. When I opened it and found this awesome mirror I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a pocket sized mirror that is so easy to pop in your bag during days or nights out. It’s a lovely print and colour and makes a nice little accessory for your handbag and revolution makeup collection. The one thing I will say is that the material of the print is very easily scratched and noticeable but only a minor point! The material actually makes it easier to hold having good grip.

I really enjoy using this eye primer. It’s the first time I’ve had one and I would never go back. It’s simple to use and is perfect for your makeup routine when creating subtle or bold eye looks.

I’d recommend this for sure as it makes your eye makeup routine easier and fun!

This brow gel is essentially like clear mascara. It is great for brushing your brows to shape them and ready them for a long day or night out.Β

Again, it’s handbag friendly and will slot in taking next to no room during travelling etc. I’ve used this since I opened it in my calendar and am really glad to have it in my collection and show it to my friends!

Mystery gift bag worth Β£30

When I ordered my Revolution Advent Calendar I qualified for a mystery gift bag worth Β£30. I was chuffed when I opened it to find two palettes, a liquid highlighter and a matte me lip kit!Β

The first thing I want to chat about is this ‘The Emily Edit’ “The wants” palette. It is a gorgeous pink packaging with a range of gorgeous pastel and bold colours. This palette really does have it all. You have some glorious shimmery whites, pastel sweets and some decadent sexy rich tones. I love this palette as it literally has so much potential when being used for so so many different looks. My friends are in love with it and it’s great to have people round for a pamper night and get them to try out this palette.Β

I love the names of the colours as they add so much more personality to it and makes it more fun when experimenting with different looks. I have reached for this so much alongside my palettes within the Advent Calendar and they have all together made my Autumn and Winter makeup perfect. I cannot wait to come to this palette time and time again to try with lots of different looks. I think a palette should pass the test of how much it can be used and for different occasions; This one can create a subtle look, professional look, day and night look. What more could you ask for?

Flawless Palette

When I found yet another fab palette I was so happy! It was like Christmas day came early. This ‘Flawless’ palette is a little more reserved and carries lots of shimmer, sparkle and subtle colours. It has a huge variety of lights, mediums and darks and you can create lots of looks including simple & bright and smoky & dark.Β

It is more of a reserved and earthy palette as opposed to the other palette reviewed above which I’m so glad about as I really feel the mystery bag has delivered a beautiful range of product.

Lustre Gold Liquid Highlighter

This Liquid Lustre Gold highlighter is magnificent. It turns you into a rose gold shimmering goddess. It’s easy to use, fun and can take a regular makeup look and make it royal. It’s long lasting, bright and is one I reach for for my night out looks when I need some extra glamour. I have swatched this on my hand and even after washing with soap, it still stays around leaving a subtle golden glow!

Restro Luxe Matte Lip Kit! 'Glory'

I love the Matte Lip kits from Revolution. I have a number of different shades and was happy to open this up and find the ‘Glory’ kit. It comes with a lip pencil and lip liner and is a deep and rich browny purple. It’s easy to apply, fast drying and super light on the lips as opposed to some other lip products that feel heavy and cracking. Β It is so long lasting that it can be difficult to remove! And I love that about it. It’s a very bold colour so for those with more subtle lip looks it may not be a match made in heaven, but for me, It’s the perfect product.
