If you’re anything like me you love baths! And let’s face it most children do too. I prefer a calming, beautifully scented bath where I can sit back and do some catching up on reading or scheduling some work during my perfect evening routine. However children prefer a bath time full of fun and a little bit of chaos! So this post is all about how to bring some oomph and fun to bath time.
Bath toys
To spruce up bath time and keep the little ones occupied I have bought some foam letters, mini boats, fun character scrub scrunchies and some squirty squeezing animal toys.
The mini boats are great for the kids to see how the boat can balance as well as sink. It’s a simple and clever way to incorporate some physics into their fun as well as into their interactive bath story time.
The fun character scrub scrunchies are a fun way to promote cleaning in the bath by using some lovely bath products and creating bubbles whilst washing their body. It just adds extra motivation to clean if the scrunchies look like unicorns, octopus and ducks hehe. To be honest I find them fun to use too!
The squirty squeezing animal toys are my favourite bath toys as it’s funny to fill them with water and squirt the water out of them as well as creating bubbles under the water by squeezing them beneath the surface of the water. They also float so they are very multi purposeful.
The last bath toys we currently have are foam letters. They are a great way to help the children spell in the bath and recite their alphabet and numbers by sticking them to the bathroom wall. They are a great visual tool and sensory toy, plus they are very safe to play with being soft and foamy.
Safe bath games
Although bath time can be a little daunting with the safety aspect, there are still games we can play to keep our little ones mind occupied and at ease. Washing hair and being in water can sometimes be a little fearful, with the fear of slipping, getting water in eyes and breathing it in, we have to take precaution, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun.
As I said above, your child can do their ABC’s and 123’s in the bath with some foam numbers as well as working with colours of toys and playing guessing games too. You can also do some interactive story time games with the boats and animal toys. I personally love story time, especially when it’s interactive! I imagine playing pirate ships with the boats, squeezing animals toys and the octopus scrub scrunchy! I see a pirate ship fighting against the tide, when they are swarmed by a huge whale who blow water at them forcing them to try and turn the ship, only to be met by a huge Kraken! – I mean, might just be me… hehe.
We also like to play fishing with some play hook lines and fish which is a great before bath game or just on a rainy day. We also like to softly throw the foam letters onto the wall and see if any of them can stick! It’s rare they stick but it’s still lots of fun.
Fun bubble bath products
If you’ve been on my little corner of the internet before you will know how obsessed I am with bath and shower products! Particularly my Gifted LUSH bath & Shower products! Let alone how excited the kids get about them. So I have ensured the kids have some different products each time they have their bath and shower time. They love me showing them my unicorn horn bath bar and my Sleepy cloud bath bar too. It’s one very simple way to spruce up their bath that little bit extra.
When I pop by the shops I always look for some lovely bath gels that smell divine and look lovely. The kids get so inspired to have a lovely bath and keep clean when they have different products to look forward to which is a great way to entice children to promote good hygiene and cleanliness. I recently bought some Asda shimmery bath gels with one being banana scented and the other being marshmallow scented. I won’t lie, I think I’ve had more fun with them haha.
How do you make your childrens bath time more fun? Or let’s face it, your bath time more fun? haha!
Thank you for reading! Let me know if these ideas have inspired you or if you have any other ways to make bath time more fun!
Stay wonderful!
