Happy Monday β˜•οΈ

I've been listening to an audiobook on @audible_com this morning whilst feeling the breeze from the window, before the school run.

Does anyone other Aspie have an incredibly sensitive sense of smell? To the point where it's uncomfortable?

I'd love to know! #AutismAcceptance #AutismAwareness #aspergers

My perfect evening routine | Lifestyle series

24th June 2020 17 Comments

I thought I would share my idea of a perfect evening routine! After all it is important to take care of ourselves and promote self care and self love so creating our perfect evening is so important to a good nights sleep. Our body and mind deserve rest and what better to look after ourselves than to create a routine to kickstart a better wellbeing.

Finish off work for the day and prep for tomorrow

One thing I need to start doing is pin pointing a time each evening to close my laptop, put down my pen and switch off from work. To do this I will start to work with a set time of starting and ending the work day!

Once work is done, I clear away anything that is out and put it in place ready for the next day of work so that when I am up I have everything in place to have a clear and fresh start.

If I am going out or know exactly what I’ll be doing the next day, I will choose my clothes and lay them out ready for the next morning.

Put on a scented candle in my bedroom

Once I have cleared my room ready for calm and chill, I always light a scented candle to fill my room with a lovely aroma ready for when I come to bed. It creates a lovely calming atmosphere with candles creating a warm glow and makes me feel so cosy when I can smell something beautiful.Β

Photo by Esther Wilhelmsson on Unsplash

Get my bed clothes and bed ready

Before my bath I like to get my fresh and light bed clothes ready and make sure my bed is all ready for me to dive into! I’ll make sure anything around my bed is cleared away and keep my space clutter free so that my mind can be calm and quiet ready for a good nights sleep.Β

I’ll choose a book or select my book on my Amazon fire and set it next to my bed ready for when I tuck in and am ready to read.

Run my bath and use lovely products

Since having the bath fitted I am obsessed with it! I absolutely adore soaking in a nice warm bubble bath and just enjoying some quality time alone. I will always light a candle in my bathroom to create a nice glow and set the mood with glorious aromas and warm feel. Since I’m big on skin care and self care I love trying new bath products such as bath bombs, bath bars, bath milk and bubble bath from different cruelty free and vegan friendly brands. Of course my favourite is LUSH! You can click here to see the bath products I was Kindly gifted by them.

I lie in the bath with my podcast on and just take some time to be still and silent whilst enjoying the warmth of the water and the scent of the products.Β

During my bath I will sometimes use a hair mask and face mask to really detox my skin and hydrate my hair. I also love having a big glass of elderflower cordial with ice in it to keep me hydrated during my warm bath.Β

Moisturise and post bath self care

When I emerge from my warm bubbly water I will dry off with a big fully bath towel and pop my hair in a hair turban towel to keep it out of my way whilst drying. I ensure my body is dry and then apply a lovely moisturiser all over before getting into my fresh and cosy Pyjamas and slippers.

I love to use a body mist to make me feel extra rejuvenated and clean as well as smelling divine!Β

Green tea and chill

After my calming soak I love to make myself a cup or small pot of herbal tea. I usually reach for my mint green tea as it is lovely and fresh and makes me feel detoxed. I will take my tea up to bed and place it on my bedside table leaving it to cool slightly whilst I get myself into bed, ruffle up my pillows and get comfy.Β

I will have a little chat to my other half if he is awake and give him a cuddle and a kiss and say good night. I use my little bedside reading lamp so that my other half can sleep peacefully without too much brightness filling the room. I like to blow my candle out when I get into bed so that it has time to cool down for safety reasons. I then will pick up my book and begin reading whilst sipping my tea until I feel like It’s time to completely switch off and get to dreamland.Β

Sometimes I like to scroll through Pinterest or images on my phone but I am trying to get into the habit of leaving my phone to the side before bed to reduce my screen time. If I’m using my Amazon fire to read I will always switch on the blue light so that my eyes are safer during using it and so that it creates less brightness.Β

Time for a good nights sleep

Once I am finished reading I will put everything to the side on or in my bedside table, take a trip to the loo if needed, turn off my lamp and pop in my eye drops. Once all that is done I will get cosy in bed and drift off to get some ZZzzzz….

What does your perfect evening routine look like? Let me know in the comments!

Stay wonderful!

Gosh this sounds like a blissful way to end the day! I also loooove putting on some scented candles, even in the summer haha. My perfect routine is quite similar to yours but I also love cleansing my skin and popping on a face mask.

Ooh, your evening routine sounds like bliss! My youngest hasn’t been sleeping well during lockdown so we don’t really have much of a routine at the moment. I can’t wait to get back into one!

Your so organised – I love being organised too. It makes you more productive and also helps you to relax when you come to the end of your day as you know you are prepared for the next day. You’re evening routine sounds lovely. It’s so nice and relaxing have a soak in the bath and some time to yourself, and then going in to your room that will be filled with the lovely scent of your candle must be lovely.

Trust me, not all days are as calm and organised as this hehe. I try to keep in a routine but things will often break it depending on the day I’m having etc. I think we all know those days where we don’t even have the energy to wash our face before bed!

      Stay wonderful!

Here is my unboxing of my first Pause subscription box in April!

April was all about reading and finding calm through reading. In order to embrace pausing though reading, this month included a task where we make Pompom book marks.

With green yarn it was lovely to follow the guide and find calm whilst making a little pompom bookmark.
