Happy Monday β˜•οΈ

I've been listening to an audiobook on @audible_com this morning whilst feeling the breeze from the window, before the school run.

Does anyone other Aspie have an incredibly sensitive sense of smell? To the point where it's uncomfortable?

I'd love to know! #AutismAcceptance #AutismAwareness #aspergers

Five bathroom design ideas on a budget | Interior series

Home renovations don’t have to be budget-busting. If you’re smart, there are lots of design and remodeling improvements you can make without spending a fortune. One of the most expensive rooms to remodel and redesign can often be the bathroom. However, with these ideas, this doesn’t have to be case. Try these tips for a beautiful new bathroom, without damaging your bank balance. I have recently designed and renovated my bathroom for less than around Β£600 which is astonishing seeming that bathroom renovation can easily cost up to Β£6000 and more!

Photo by Sidekix Media on Unsplash

Update your fixtures. Fixtures like taps and shower heads can really change the look of a bathroom. Old fashioned faucets might be cramping your style, but these can be relatively cheap to swap out. Check DIY stores, builder’s yards, or scrap yards for cheap fittings, and change them for something that’s more your style. Swapping fittings is reasonably simple to do, but if you’re not confident messing with the plumbing call in an expert, so you’re not rushing to a company like Sydney Emergency Plumbing for help because you’ve broken something important! There are manyΒ plumbing companies to the rescue in your areas with a simple search on google, but let’s not have to get to that. Here are some taps we have chosen and they were affordable and easy to fit!

Repaint. If you’re working with a small budget, a fresh coat of paint can make a big difference. Bathrooms can often feel cold, bland, and boring. Repainting freshens up a bland bathroom, can warm up a cold-feeling room, or brighten a dark bathroom. If your tiles are dated, dark, or dingy, these can be painted too. Use proper tile paint so water won’t damage them, but you can really change the look of your bathroom for the price of a tin of paint. It saves hundreds on tile replacements! We had a spot of damp on our ceiling due to the extractor fan no longer working so we scraped off, washed well and repainted with anti mould and damp paint. Good as new!

Accessorise. If there’s not much that you can change, then buy some new accessories to dress up your bathroom. Treat yourself to some nice, fluffy towels in a colour you love. Look out for items like pretty soap dishes, hand soap dispensers, toothbrush holders, or even toilet roll holders. Add things like candles, plants or other fun decor items. This gives your bathroom lots more personality, without needing to spend much or add loads of clutter. You can find accessories in most shops at affordable prices! It’s insane how much accessories can transform a room without the need to spend excessiveΒ amounts.

I have added some faux cherry blossom garlands, fairy lights intertwined and some candles to the basin unit and mirror. It adds so much life and energy to the bathroom and really helps bring peace and calm to bath times. I have also added some lovely matching accessories with soap dishes and hand wash bottle as well as the light switch, bin and toilet brush. It’s all uniform and brings the room together

Add storage. Most bathrooms don’t have much built-in storage, which can make them become cluttered, by the time you’ve filled it with your toiletries and other essentials. Add some storage so you can stash clutter out of sight and out of the way. A rack of some kind for inside the shower is ideal for the items you use every day. Look for unused corners where you could add drawers or shelves for items you want to hide away. Storage boxes can be useful for things like cotton buds, spare face cloths, or extra toilet rolls. We have a new basin unit with cupboards, shelves and a big drawer we use for storing products, towels and a box of bath and hair products. We have a little unit too which we store bulk buy items ready to replace ones we have used up! Β The bathroom now looks clear and tidy.

Freshen the grout. If your bathroom hasn’t been done for a while, then the caulk or grout between the tiles can soon look dingy, no matter how diligent you are about cleaning. If your tiles are in good condition, but the grout is looking grubby, just redoing the grout can make a big difference. Fresh grout instantly looks cleaner and brighter, improving your bathroom a lot making the tiles look brand new! We haveΒ recently used grout reviver and it has made so much difference. You can buy the pens and sponge tube which both work wonders if you find the right brand. We used the unibond one.

Before
After

With some simple changes that can be done cheaply and quickly, you can freshen up your bathroom and make it look much nicer, with no need for a new bathroom suite or expensive remodelling.

Thank you for reading! Let me know if you have any ideas for renovating your bathroom on a budget or if these ideas have helped.

Stay wonderful!

Here is my unboxing of my first Pause subscription box in April!

April was all about reading and finding calm through reading. In order to embrace pausing though reading, this month included a task where we make Pompom book marks.

With green yarn it was lovely to follow the guide and find calm whilst making a little pompom bookmark.
