I gave The Hunted a four out of five stars!
This book was one I picked up from my local Asda store during one of my essential shops. I mean, you know you’re a book lover when you are just drawn to the isle to gaze across the glorious rows of beautiful books. The isle makes me feel at ease, happy and comforted. I also love the deals they have too. I can buy two books for the price of one which is just ace! So here is a review of The Hunted. A book I chose to read when the cover caught my eye on my bookshelf!
The hunted is an abundance of madness set in outback Australia and follows a number of main characters through a ‘then’ and ‘now’ basis. It is essentially two stories combined into one where around half way through the stories combine and become one big one with tonnes of heartbreak, sadness, anger, crime, history and heroic acts. I’d be lying if I said that I found this super chill to read. It was gory, gruesome, shocking and doesn’t spare the details either.
This book has kept me company during mornings of kids dance classes, evenings cosied up and even on my journey back from Scotland. It was quite low key and laid back for the first half of the book until quite literally one character ‘Maggie’ unleashed horrors from the closet. A gruesome, closet full of deep and dark secrets that change the entire atmosphere of the book.
You become attached to each set of characters and their different personalities, traits and backgrounds give new levels to the book as a whole which makes it so much more intriguing.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was a solid four stars from me for the fact that it was gripping, it had depth, it was cleverly written and the author clearly knew what they were doing! It’s a great book and one I certainly recommend.
Thank you so much for reading. I’d love to know in the comments if you have read this book and if not, if you’d like to.
Stay wonderful!
