The weather is starting to settle, meaning that a lot of people are taking the opportunity to spend time out in the garden and, with recent developments, we might even be able to start inviting people over, too! So, if you’re looking to create a gorgeous social space out in the garden where you can enjoy the nice weather, what should you be aiming for?
The right place
First of all, you should make sure that you actually have some space in your garden for you and your guests to all hang out together. It’s not all that difficult to build your own decking or you can arrange for someone to install a patio, instead. You want to make sure that it’s positioned at a part of the garden that has some shade but also gets some sun throughout the day.
A touch of comfort
As well as the right practical space, you should also ensure that your company can stay nice and comfortable. Not only does this mean that you should invest in high-quality outdoor furniture that will stand the test of time. You should also look at little touches like outdoor heating elements that can keep your guests nice and cosy, even if the weather is getting a little chilly out there in the evenings.

Hanging out all day
A lot of us have those friends that we can seemingly spend all day with without even noticing. In the blink of an eye, it’s evening. Does that mean you have to head inside, however? With the right exterior lighting, that doesn’t have to be the case. Lighting should be hung around the social space to provide visibility and ambience, but you should make sure it’s used to highlight any steps and railings as well. Safety should be a key concern as it gets darker outside.
Cover from the weather
It might start drizzling a little while you’re outdoors, but if the weather is otherwise pleasant, not too windy or cold, then why head indoors? With the help of verandah builders, you can make sure you have the cover to keep enjoying your time with your guests. What’s more, they can add a measure of privacy, especially if you hang curtains from them, meaning you don’t need to worry about people peering in, either.
A bite to eat
What do we do when we gather with our friends? We might shoot the breeze, catch up on things, maybe even uncork a bottle or two. But few things bring people together like the opportunity to break bread. To that end, you can make sure that your outdoor social space is also an outdoor dining space. An outdoor stove is an excellent summer garden upgrade, for one. There’s nothing like some fresh foods on the grill to go with the conversation
It’s the perfect time to update and upgrade your home’s exterior and what better way to do it than creating a space where you can lounge and enjoy the company of your friends and family?
