How are we in August already!? Time flies doesn’t it? Somehow I’ve read more books this year than I ever have, which is just a wonderful feeling. For me, books are a safe place for my mind to rest. They are comfort, happiness and warmth and keep me company during times of need. Basically, books are great and this year I have realised that more than ever! So I wanted to share all of the books I’ve read so far this year, from January to mid-August. For those who prefer videos, I have filmed this as a mini series over on my book instagram.
Love on the brain by Ali Hazelwood – After reading Ali’s debut novel ‘The Love Hypothesis’ last year, I fell in love with her writing, so I just had to read this one which is just as good! Adored the in depth saucy (wink wink) scenes and the story overall. It just had to involve science!

Folktales of the cryptids volume 1 by Afterlight comics – This comic is awesome. I picked it up at our local Megacon (Comic con) at one of the stalls. I was immediately hooked in by the art style of the comics and the overall company stand and I just had to get one to try out. I read it within a very short time and loved it. There are a collection of mini stories within this comic and all are completely different, keeping you on your toes throughout! I will definitely be buying more of these comics.
Safety in numbers by Sophie Penhaligon – This read was inspired by my love of women in STEM. After diving into the world of Ali Hazelwood books, I found myself loving the whole STEM situation, and after I’d finished Ali’s reads at the current time, I found this delightful one by Sophie Penhaligon. I loved the concept, representation and just overall story. The depth, the lessons learnt and the loooooove. Definitely one to give a read if you’re into your STEM books.
The Nanny by Lana Ferguson – Well, well, well… Isn’t this a saucey lil number. This book was one of the first non women in STEM romances I’ve read, and it led me down a path of mild romance, steamy books obsession. I’m so glad it did. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without this book. (I’d like to personally thank Lana Ferguson). The Nanny is exciting, fun, sad and just a whole rollercoaster of emotions and feelings. The storyline is awesome and the characters are just… Mwah! It’s a sexy book, but with so much depth.
Practise makes perfect by Sarah Adams – After discovering my love of romance books outside of STEM novels, I found Sarah Adams. She is now by far one of my favourite authors. You may be able to tell by the next five in this list.. I basically read her books back to back because of how much I adored them. Despite them being closed door romance books, I still felt that twirly, giddy feeling from reading them. Love, lust and lots of depth. Practise makes perfect is such a cosy, comforting read and it’s set in a little place, focusing on a lovely gal who runs a flower shop. I mean, can you get any cuter? Trust me, you won’t be able to put down Sarah’s books after this one! It is also part of a two book series as such. The one below ‘When in Rome’ links to this book but is set prior to this.
When in Rome by Sarah Adams – Another cosy read by Sarah. I love it just as much as ‘Practise makes perfect’ and could genuinely keep on reading them again and again. The characters are unique, the setting is just delightful and the storyline is a unique one, with lust, love, heartbreak and happiness.

The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams – This one is separate from the other two and is set completely differently, location and story wise. It’s a friends to lovers story with a twist and it genuinely makes me all giddy inside. It’s easy going, not too dramatic and is just again, so comforting to read when you want to escape reality for a short while.
The Enemy by Sarah Adams – I love this book. It’s raunchy, frustratingly wonderful and just a fun read. It’s another duology by Sarah. The other being a book called ‘The Match’ which I’m yet to read! I bet it’s just as awesome as her other books though. Keep a check here to see when I get to it.
The Temporary Roomie by Sarah Adams – This is another duology that follows ‘The Off limits rule’ which is the one below this! Without being controversial, this was one of the books of Sarah’s that at first I wasn’t so sure about. The main character put me off and the immediate chemistry between characters wasn’t something I was so into, however as the book went on, I did in fact fall in love with them. The story is unique and full of ups and downs, just like life!
The Off limits rule by Sarah Adams – This was a great read to follow ‘The temporary roomie’ (yes I read them out of order) as I got to see the build up of the characters that come in that book. It made me love the main male protagonist even more and seeing his back story is just wonderful. There was more depth and intrigue, plus a few clench the posterior moments as times got tense between characters! I would definitely read this again.

Thank you so much for reading. I hope you have enjoyed the books I’ve read so far. Let me know if you have read any of these or have added them to your TBR!
Stay wonderful!
