After my partner got a voucher for a whisky tasting evening for his birthday we finally decided to use it for our little date the day before Valentines day! It was super fun, insightful and a really unique experience for us both to have together. It’s a little intimate evening in a super cool art deco lounge tasting great whisky! What could be better?
Above is the leaflet we had above our whiskey glasses when we arrived at the Whisky lounge. It’s a little guide to the whisky we will be tasting! It’s fab. It’s super informative and is great to have during our tasting experience.
The evening consisted of us being talked through the process of tasting. Our guide and trusted expert Eddie Ludlow talked about maturation, alcohol levels, types of whisky and how they came about. It was fascinating and made tasting each whisky even better. The backstory to each one was super interesting and it made me want to attend more evenings like this!
Thanks Eddie! You’re a legend.
Overall the whisky tasting evening took around 2 hours. It was the perfect amount of time and left some space for us to go and grab a drink afterwards and reflect on the night! It was lovely for a date night and we certainly raised a glass or two..or three..or four *wink wink*
After the whisky tasting we headed to the upstairs lounge to get a cocktail to make the most of our visit to this gorgeous hotel. It was the first time we have been to The Edgebaston hotel and whisky lounge and it did not disappoint. It is beautifully decorated and elegant, has lovely staff members and service and is great for a relaxing evening with your friend, partner or family member should you have an extra few pounds in your pocket. It is quite high end and the drinks are rather expensive but the experience overall is lovely.
This is the “Aloha!” cocktail we had in The Edgebaston hotel lounge! It was fruity, fun and easy to drink.
Here is the ‘Elixir of life” cocktail we had! It was bitter and super strong and was more difficult to drink than the Aloha! but still really good.
As we sat at the bar they automatically provided us with a cooling glass of water with cucumber in and a bowl of pretzels! How lovely. It was so nice to dig into some pretzels after all those whisky’s hehe. The water was sooo refreshing and cleansed our palettes really for some cocktails.
It was lovely service and the bar men were extremely talented in cocktail making and just customer service overall.
Selfie!
Let’s face it, if we are in a beautifully decorated place with gorgeous looking cocktails we HAVE to take advantage and get them selfies in. Am I right?
So here below are some lovely pictures we took at the bar, in the hotel and in their back garden.
Have you been to a whiskey tasting evening? If so I'd love to hear from you. I hope this little review has helped. Stay wonderful! Louna x
