Earlyish nights and feeling mentally awake call for a bit of reading πŸ“š I'm loving having @AmazonKindle on my phone. My current go to read on my phone is 'Under one roof' by Ali Hazelwood 😍

What I do on a rainy day | #BlogtoberWithBoa Day 12

12th October 2020 Be first to comment

So for day 12 the prompt is ‘What I do on a rainy day’. I think we can all relate to some of these as we often like to stay in or do certain activities on a rainy day when we want to get cosy, get out of the house or completely chill and have a lazy one!

Make a hearty warm meal

Making hearty meals is a lovely calming task for some on a rainy, cold day. It’s lovely to put on your favourite relaxing programme or playlist and just enjoy using lovely ingredients to make a delicious warm meal, whether that be for yourself or everyone in your house for lunch, dinner or both!

Journal or draw

Sometimes when I cannot think of anything to do I turn to my journal or art book. It is a lovely way to pass the time whilst creating something or channeling my inner thoughts onto paper to create poetry, lyrics or ideas for my new book that I’m in the process of writing.

Watch Horror movies

Although horror movies aren’t for everyone, during Autumn especially I love cosying up and watching a spooky film or Halloween themed film or TV show. On a rainy day when my partner is home I love getting cosy, closing the curtains, putting the fairy lights on and putting on a Horror film or show. I use Netflix, prime video and Disney plus depending on the level of spooky theme I’m in the mood for. If the films are just Halloween themed and we choose to watch them with the kids we will go for Disney Plus!

Make and drink lots of warm beverages

When it’s cold out there is nothing more lovely than making a big cup of your favourite hot beverage, sitting back and taking some long deep, calm breaths. Let’s face it, you can drink endless cups of tea, decaf coffee and maybe the occasional hot chocolate depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have.

Have a long warm bath with my favourite products!

This is the first bath I have had during Autumn since my bathroom was recently renovated earlier this year so I am most certainly taking advantage of it with some amazing Autumnal and Halloween themed bath products! It’s lovely to hear the rain on the window whilst being in the warm house and in a lovely hot bubble bath full of beautiful products filling the room with glorious scents.

Play or watch others play video games

I can be elegant and still love playing video games hehe! I absolutely love getting cosy of an evening or late afternoon and playing a good video game like lego Harry Potter, Lego heroes or basically any lego games. I am not exactly experienced with playing games so I stick to the ones easier to control for now. I did in fact have a go at Ghostbusters and recently Phasmophobia with friends online which was ace! It was so spooky and realistic. Perfect for Autumn and as Halloween approaches.

Have a clear out of clothes

One thing I love doing (most of the time) is clearing out clothes! It’s a great way to remind yourself of what wonders you have lying in the back of your drawers and let’s you have a chance to circulate your wardrobe for the coming seasons weather changes. It gives you time to have a refresh and get rid of anything you won’t wear anymore or anything that doesn’t fit you. Remember, don’t keep dwelling on clothes you will wear when you finally lose weight! Don’t be so harsh on yourself and keep demeaning yourself when you see the item you want to wear. You’re bloody gorgeous! Own it!

Have a pamper day

Alongside having a lovely hot bubble bath with all of my favourite products, I sometimes like to go all out when I have a bit of spare time and have a good well needed pamper. I’m talking face masks, hair masks, nail care, skin care and everything I need to feel rejuvenated and cared for. It’s not only great for your physical health but also your mental, emotional and spiritual health too. You can even do a little detox involving fresh ingredient meals, herbal tea, lemon water and even some meditation and mindfulness to detox the mind of toxic thoughts.

Order Autumnal Coffee syrups

When I’m in need of something to do to fill some gaps in my time I love to venture onto Amazon and Etsy to look for some seasonal goodies. One of my favourite things to buy during Autumn and Winter is flavoured coffee syrups. It is a tradition for me to buy Beanies coffees and syrups so we can have some extra special coffees and warm beverages and bring the coffee shop feel to our home!

Appreciate nature at it's finest

I absolutely love sitting on my side of the bed or at my office desk and looking out the window into my front garden seeing the cars drive past, hearing the rain drops on the window and watching the trees sway in the wind. It is a lovely way of spending five minutes in peace with a lovely warm drink and cosy knit cardigan on.

Craft or knit

Although I’m no pro, I love to do some simple crafting or knitting during rainy days. I loved my collab with Lovecrafts so if you’re one for knitting be sure to check that out. I also have a very good friend who happens to have a guest post here who can most certainly inspire you with your crafting!Β

Get cosy and read

The words ‘Cosy’ and ‘read’ are two of my favourites! A rainy day is the perfect set up for a cosy day in with a good book in hand. See here for my current reads!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you stay nice and cosy during these cold rainy days!

Stay wonderful!
