Welcome to my February Edit; Showcasing to you all of the things I’ve loved during February. Yes It’s been a pretty shitty month to say the least with lockdown continuing, people feeling under the weather, lack of sun and general anxieties about the worlds situation. I also lost my auntie this month so it’s been quite a tough time. So what better than to focus on all of the things that made me happy and maybe they could make you happy too!
Beauty
Eyes
A palette I have enjoyed this month has been the ‘Courage’ Wild Animal Palette by the incredible Makeup Revolution. It’s the perfect balance of wild and simplistic and feeds my makeup and beauty needs this month with elegant, professional but slightly ‘wild’ and wonderful tints. I’ve reached for this palette to do my brows and eyes and It really is a great addition to my palette collection. I adore the shades; Golden, shimmery, warm and metallic, everything this Autumn girl could want. It’s definitely added some warmth to this cold month.
Face
The same as in my January Edit, I have been using my trusty LUSH Trix stick in 10C for my concealer and then topped off with my Revolution Pro Full coverage Camouflage foundation in F2. Simple, quick, great quality and doesn’t break the bank. They aren’t too heavy and allow great coverage without having heavy layers of them applied. I have used these in thick and thin when doing zoom meetings, my Virtual Valentines party, days out to the park and my photoshoots and during shooting my videos for my Youtube channel. These base products have been great for all occasions and they are both cruelty free and vegan! To ensure my makeup sticks and sits on my skin well I also pair them with my primers. Again like last months; Revolution pore blur primer and Revolution hydrating primer.
I use my usual Sunkissed metallic bronzer blush to give my face a warm glow and help me contour and top it off with my ‘The beauty crop’ stargazing blush duo for a light pink tint to add a little bit of rosiness to my cheeks. I also give a light brush of Revolution baked white highlighter too, to help me shimmer and shine on those days where I need a little ‘pick me up’. To set my makeup and add a burst of freshness, I use my ‘I heart Revolution’ watermelon setting spray. What a divine creation!
Lips
In terms of lip products, I have been absolutely in love with E.L.F cosmetics products! They have really upped their lip care game this year so far and I just couldn’t resist collecting some of their new lip products. So moreso skincare but also paired to create the best lips possible, I have been using the Hemp-derived Cannabis Sativa ‘Calm balm’ lip balm. It is absolutely insanely wonderful! Need I say more? It has rescued my lips this past month and really has saved me from the Winter dry and cracked lips. I have used it every single day multiple times a day and I don’t know what I’d do without it now that it’s in my life.
For a little more oomph and colour whilst keeping with the hydration care, I have been reaching for my E.L.F ‘Hydrating core Lip shine’ in the shades ‘Blissful’ and ‘Happy’. They look beautiful, have a little heart hydrating core to fit the Valentines theme and they are beautifully pigmented for a moisturising yet tinted lip for work, play or just for simple self satisfaction, which let’s agree is the most important bit right?
For a more glossy look, I have been adoring the E.L.F EllyPop Juicy Apricot Pop Gloss to make me feel more of a pouty gal for the day. I have even paired it with a lovely lipstick to have colour and glossy shine! Why not?
My last lip fave of this month has been, yet again the E.L.F sheer Matte liquid lipstick in the shade ‘Praline Petal’. It’s light, wearable and feels so comfortable, it’s as though you have your natural lips rocking the show. It’s a beautifully delicate colour with a delicate pigment too; Great for those zoom work meetings or even date nights too. I rocked mine on a day to the park for a little photoshoot hehe.
Skincare
My current skincare routine is focused around my skincare needs which has been a lack of hydration! So I have been using my divine Soap and Glory face cleanser/scrubber alongside my Primark Gentle skincare range from their ‘wellness’ range launch. I use their gentle facial wash, gentle day cream and gentle night cream. In terms of toner I use Superdrug’s ‘Naturally radiant’ glycolic tonic toner for evening routine and the ‘Lyca’ facial glow rose toner for daytime skincare routine. I’m obsessed with my Face Halo which I use everyday as well as my reusable cotton pads. I have found that using those has saved me from buying and throwing out hundreds of face wipes and hundreds of one use cotton rounds too which is such a lovely thought! I’m slowly trying to create a more eco-friendly bathroom and one with less plastic and less waste.
In terms of face masks for my skincare routine, I have been loving the ‘Revolution’ pink clay detoxifying face mask which I have really enjoyed using to help my skin feel the best it can be. I’ve also loved my trusty Revolution Soothing overnight face mask with Cannabis sativa. It is cooling, soothing and perfect for struggling skin. Now we are moving into Spring, I cannot wait to try some new products including some cheeky samples I was sent recently!
Oh and how could I forget! I have thoroughly enjoyed the Gifted PR Samples from LUSH and their Valentines range. It has been a wild month enjoying the luxurious LUSH Valentines products during my Valentines Virtual slumber party and behind the scenes during ‘Me time’.
Haircare
I have adored the Bleach London ‘Reincarnation’ hair mask and the hair elixir serum this month. They have been life savers and have helped my hair regain it’s shine, hydration and life. I couldn’t stop touching my hair after It had dried; It was so silky, shiny and felt healthy too! I even made Mamma Autumn try it and she’s equally as happy as I am. Alongside these two miracle products, I use my Function of Beauty personal formula ‘Function of Louna’ and have been since last year. It’s a subscription based completely customised Shampoo & Conditioner. I may even try some of their other products this year. To change it up for this month I changed the colours and function slightly due to changes in my hairs needs and colour. It’s now in champagne scent and deep pink; Absolutely divine!
Food & Drink
This month with us still being in lockdown, it has allowed us to use our essential shop as a way to discover new Vegan products to try. We have have tried so many fab products this month and have been enjoying some dishes more than others too. Here are some of the things I’ve enjoyed during this month.
Yes it may have been pancake day during Feb but believe it or not I have actually adored having pancakes both sweet and savoury a few times within Feb! I actually didn’t have pancakes on pancake day (Don’t hate me).
During Feb for Valentines I ordered some divine cocktails to my home from our favourite bar ‘The Alchemist’ so I quite literally brought the alchemy to our home for my partner and I which was so awesome! Loved it.
I’ve also been loving lots of sweet treats such as Ogg’s vegan chocolate cupcakes, M&S vegan chocolate truffles, ASDA’s divine Free from Easter chocolates (I’ve tried some early!) and not to mention the vegan ice cream. And no, I have not felt bad about eating lots of sweet treats hehe. If you don’t know already, I am more of a savoury gal than sweet and one of my favourite breakfasts and lunch dishes has been avocado or my fave guacamole on toast which has certainly ‘filled the gap’ on many cosy mornings. As well as that I have enjoyed making pasta dishes and more spring type food as we start to transition into sunny weather. Look out for food posts during March! We have also had to find lots of Gluten free products due to a possible intolerance within the home and I have been loving trying new products I never thought to even look at! Caramel rice cakes, GF crackers, bread, pasta and delicious sweet treats! Oh and how could I forget; I tried a new takeout we’ve never had before and it is fab. If you’re in Birmingham and are within distance I highly recommend trying Veggie Master for a vegan takeout offering kebabs, burgers, chicken, chips, pizza and many options for a huge range of tastes and likings.
Lifestyle
So here are all of the lifestyle things I have been loving this month. Let’s face it, Feb hasn’t been much better than 2020 so we’ve had to find ways to make it wonderful and positive to offset the lockdown. I sadly had a bereavement on Valentines day so the month took a bit of a turn but it just makes this section even more important. Focusing on the good things!
Books
This month I have read two books and currently reading another. I have adored getting stuck into a good book and have felt so connected to losing myself in another world when I feel I need escape from this one. The power of reading is immense; I have felt so comforted by reading during my difficult time at home and I’m so excited to see what other books I adore this year. So here are some books I have loved this month! I have also done a video over on my Youtube about all of the books I’m aiming to read this year.
- Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine – Gail Honeyman: Wow! What a beautifully, calming, comforting book with twists and turns, falls and rises and breakthroughs for the simple yet complex main character Eleanor. I felt lost yet fulfilled after finishing this book and I truly adore every part.
- The Woods – Vanessa Savage: This was the second book I have read this month and I’m very surprised how intense it is. I have felt so anxious reading this which clearly shows it’s well written, well structured and immersive.
- An Edited Life – Anna Newton: This book is divine! It’s more of an informative self help companion and it has really helped me get my life on track with being more organised and a lot more Edited. The resources are fantastic and it really does inspire you to streamline your life.
Homeware
This month I have been particularly loving homeware and in general just finding new ways to make my home the best it can be since we are spending excess amount of time here after all with being in lockdown. Our homes are a very important place for us at the moment and if possible we need to try and make them the best they can be so that we are surrounded by the positivity and happiness we need, atmospherically and physically.
I decided this month that I wanted to have a shelf in the bathroom connecting from the bath, to the unit next to it to create extra room for things and to make it look more cosy and homely. I then filled the bathroom window ledge/ shelf with gorgeous succulents, plants and cacti; Faux and real in divine matching pots! As soon as the idea came to mind, I decided to do it within a few days because one, I am impatient and two, If I want something done to make me happy, I get it done. It looks so beautiful and I am so proud of being a DIY queen this month. I have also painted an archway on my wall behind my bed, laid a Lino floor in my lounge and also changed around the layout, painted the window ledge white and completely decluttered. It feels so refreshing and ready for new things. Oh and in April we get our new sofa!
I have also been loving our Amazon Echo’s within my room and kitchen. They have been a great companion when cooking, cleaning, working and just in general. I definitely recommend them for those busy bees who need some quick company in music, audio books and also if you need to know quick facts and information!
Films & shows
This month, being in lockdown still has meant we have been diving into some new shows each evening when the beasts are in bed. Since Lewis works evenings, Mamma Autumn and I have been watching the latest Crime documentaries on Netflix which has been awesome. We’ve enjoyed eating dinner together and diving into the world of True crime. When Lewis is home we’ve loved relaxing to some rather chill shows and Youtube.
- Night Stalker 0n Netflix
- The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel
- The Ripper
- Community
- Markiplier
- Slapped Ham
- His House
- Look Away
- Ouija: Origin of evil
- Zodiac
Life Coaching with Charlotte Jonesie
This month I have been doing Life coaching which has been insanely amazing with the lovely Charlotte Jonesie! She is a fantastic human being and life coach and I am so lucky to have been chosen by her to do her coaching sessions. I have really started to work on creating the best life and being productive. I am so excited about this journey and opening up lot’s of pathways in the right direction so I can see how to make the most of my work and life in general. Sometimes we need a swift kick up the bum to look at things from a new perspective with a fresh mind and that’s exactly what Charlotte does. She helps you help yourself. She helps you realise that you have everything within you to make the most of your life. I cannot wait to check back next month to let you know how it’s going.
Thank you so much for reading! I have been really trying to find what I have loved this month so I hope you find inspiration from this post. Here’s to march!
