If you have been struggling lately with your mental health then you are not alone. There are thousands of people just like you who have been struggling. Take comfort in knowing you are not alone, it can be incredibly hard battling with your mental health. There are things you can do to combat your mental health and fight back.
Try to surround yourself with positivity, doing this will make you feel happy. If you are surrounded by sadness and toxicity then you will feel the burden of that and constantly feel down.
Routines
When you are struggling with your mental health it can be a great idea to get yourself into a routine. This can be quite difficult especially if you wake up each day and don’t want to do anything. You may have been struggling since the lockdowns due to covid-19. If you were furloughed or had to work from home it might have completely thrown you out of your regular routine.
Each day try to get out of bed at the same time, take a shower, and get dressed. You will automatically feel better after having a shower. This is because the warmth of the shower relaxes your muscles and makes you less tense.
Exercise
Try to exercise for at least 30 minutes each day. This will get you feeling energized and invigorated ready to face the day ahead. It has been scientifically proven that exercise can put a smile on your face and make you feel amazing. This feeling can be addictive so once you get used to feeling it you will always want it. If you don’t feel like venturing out of your front door that’s okay, there are exercises and workouts you can do at home.
You could purchase some workout DVDs, or invest in some home gym equipment. You don’t even have to buy this new, you can get some great second-hand bits from auction sites. If you do feel like getting out then swimming can be amazing for you. The weightless feeling you get rids you of stress and you exercise without feeling it.
Outings
Why not arrange a day out with your friends. You could head off to the pub for some food and drinks. Meeting friends regularly has been proven to lower the risk of early-onset dementia and Alzheimers. It can also give you the boost and the buzz you need to put that smile back on your face. Sure, you could stay at home and drink with your friends, but where is the fun in that? Beer doesn’t taste the same when drinking it from the bottle or can at home. This is because pub beer comes from special cylinders filled with gas. Cellar gas suppliers supply the gas to your local pub that will make your beer either taste fizzy or creamy. Different gas provides different tastes. See if you can taste the difference next time you head out with your friends.
speak to professionals
Finally, if you feel down for a substantial amount of time it might be a good idea to speak to the professionals. Counsellors or therapists can help you get to the underlying causes of why you are feeling down. They can even help you reach goals and take charge of your happiness once again.
