During the week, most are us are heaving for the weekend to come fast! We crave outings, beer gardens, parties, clubs, spending quality time with our loved ones or friends and just winding down after the week. As it is known, Sunday is the day of rest, that is if you don’t work etc.
For me, Sunday is a day where my boyfriend and I relax, share cuddles, make comforting food and get our lazy on! It usually consists of him playing some video games and me sitting on my bed catching up on some art work, reading or blogging.
We sometimes make our day a film day, which is usually full of horrors and Ghost adventures! For some reason Sundays make us crave some scary or intriguing stories – they always make us want to get cosy.
So, If you’re anything like me and you like to make Sunday a day of self care rituals, then stick around for some ideas of ways to practise self care.
Food & Drink
One thing I always promote in terms of self care is food. As a keen baker and vegan food enthusiast, I love trying new recipes and experimenting with different foods. Some healthy & some not so much hehe! I do love creating cakes, cupcakes, muffins, biscuits, cookies, gingerbread and all you can imagine! It can be so hard to find vegan treats out and about, so I took matters into my own hands to create them myself for whenever we fancy a cheeky treat.
Self care could include healthy meals, but It also stands for caring for yourself mentally and treating yourself. Eating nourishing food, savoury and sweet is what we need at times. It’s all about balance.
Pamper
A huge part of my self care is looking after my skin and feeling clean, cosy and healthy. I’m always searching for new skin care from Superdrug, LUSH and many other wonderful companies. After becoming a LUSH VIP I really got into trying and reviewing new cruelty free and vegan products and helping others in their skin care journey. I like to try all kinds of face masks, bath products, shower products, facial cleansers, toners, exfoliators and moisturisers, It’s so much fun! During one of LUSH’s events, we made our own face mask and our very own “Sex bomb” bath bomb; Both were delightful! Each use I get out of my face mask, I always feel so proud to have created it myself hehe.
As well as skin care, I always promote taking good care of my hair. I’m someone who has been dying my hair since I was aged 12 so having a good hair care ritual is so important in keeping my it healthy, silky and lovely. After all If your hair is feeling rubbish, It really does have an impact on how you feel.
Something I love doing and It excited me each time, is showering or bathing, mainly bathing but I don’t have a bath at home sadly. I love feeling clean, fresh and relaxed whilst also having the chance to try different hair care & skin care products! Especially when they look and smell incredible. It turns from plain old cleaning to a beautifully scented colourful shower party hehe!

Baking!
Baking for me is therapeutic, fun, rewarding and you end up with tasty treats! Although not every single creation will be “Instagram-able”, there’s always fun and humour in making a complete mess. Laughing whilst baking just adds to the experience. Ending up with beautiful creations is a wonderful feeling; Taking pictures, sharing on your social media and just admiring your hard work, however… It makes eating them harder because we don’t want to ruin them hehe!
Baking can be done with family and friends too. It’s a great way to spend time laughing, learning and then munching afterwards.
Self care is to the individual. It changes each day and some days we need more or less caring for. The list is endless as to how we practise self care. How do you promote self care?
I'd love to hear!
Stay wonderful!
