If your home’s interiors currently feel too dark, it’s probably a good idea to do something about that. There are so many different ways in which you can remedy this problem, and it all comes down to making better use of light. If you’re not sure where to start with that, we’re going to talk about some of the ideas right now that you might want to think about implementing in your home, so read on.
Keep Your Windows Clean and Unobstructed
First of all, you should think about the windows because this is where the natural light is going to come from. Dirty windows that aren’t cleaned on either side can really limit the amount of natural light that’s actually able to penetrate and fill your interior space. That’s why you should always make sure that your windows are kept properly clean and that there’s nothing on the inside obstructing them.
Get rid of heavy curtains
Speaking of things that can obstruct the windows and prevent natural light entering your home, you also need to consider the curtains and the role they play in that process. If you have heavy curtains, they’ll stop more natural light entering the space and that’s definitely not what you want. So be sure to get rid of those heavy curtains and choose something lighter.
Reflect as much light as possible
It’s a good idea to reflect as much natural light around the space as possible because that simply makes the room feel lighter. So hanging mirrors is one of the best things you can do. But chandeliers and anything else that spreads and reflects light in the home is just as useful if you want to make the space feel lighter than it currently feels right now.
Remove Trees and Bushes That Might be Blocking Natural Light
It’s often the case that it’s what’s on the outside of the home that impacts how light your interiors feel. For example, if you have large trees and bushes close to the home that are blocking the natural light from entering through the windows, that’s going to be a problem for you. And that’s why you might want to consider tree removal if that’s something that’ll help the situation. And to help the environment, how about replanting any trees you remove? I also highly suggest really thinking before getting any trees removed just to help the environment and wildlife.
Consider Light Walls and Floors
The colors used in your interiors will also have a big impact on how dark or light they feel. You should definitely think about using a lighter color palette. Lighter walls and light floors, such as white tiles or a light wood, can make a real difference. They give a lighter aesthetic and they also reflect the light a lot better than heavier colours too.
As you can see, there are plenty of things to consider when it comes to making your home interiors feel that little bit lighter than they might ordinarily feel. There’s no need to allow your interiors to feel dark and unwelcoming because that’ll impact how you enjoy your home from day to day.
Thank you for reading! I hope it helps you find solutions to any dark corners of your home.
Stay wonderful!
