After many years of battling with body dysmorphia, I finally did a confidence shoot today!
My flab, stretch marks and insecurities are all on full show. Some may like what they see and others may not, but we need to realise that we are all fighting a battle in the walls of our mind and we never know how hard someone may be trying to remain ok and above water.
Society these days has put more and more pressure on us to fit this idea of “Perfection”. The media and various companies are quick to make women and men of all ages feel they have to obtain a specific set of attributes such as being thin, muscly, fit, toned, scar and stretch mark free etc. and lets face it, for more than not, this is such a dangerous target for us to set ourselves. We are all built differently and therefore our goals of shape, size and appearance are unique to the individual. Comparing ourselves to one image goal is so unhealthy and this is how a lot of us fall to eating disorders and body image disorders.
Today was my day to wop out the perfectly imperfect me and share it with the world to hopefully inspire and spread awareness for body positivity!
