Depression Chats
The first part of my vlog is all about depression. I sit talking for a good 10 minutes about depression and how I’m feeling at the time. It was a morning where I just lay in bed and cried, and thought I’d be there all day, until an unknown strength came from nowhere and made me decide to get up, dust myself off and talk to my camera to create some inspiring and real content for anyone who needs to feel heard.
For me, educating and informing others about mental health is so important. If I can reach out to even just one person and make them feel less alone, my job would be well done. Our minds can be very lonely places sometimes and we can be made to feel inadequate or not worthy, so my aim is to ensure we can come together to prevent people from feeling segregated due to mental difficulties in life.
The last part of my chat is about depression feeling nostalgic and homely. It is a difficult feeling to describe but It is something I wanted to share to see if I was alone in feeling this. Those who have suffered with depression long term may have some ideas about how this feeling is described, so If so I’d love to hear your comments on the subject.
Reorganising clothes
We move onto a time-lapse of me going through my clothes drawers and throwing away things I no longer want and reorganising my way of putting them back. Alongside sorting and folding clothes, I am singing and dancing and basically just being a big weirdo and having fun hehe. It’s the small things in life that can make things wonderful, like me singing and dancing to Taylor Swift and wearing leggings as a hat.
If you’ve been following my blog and socials for a while now, you’ll know that early this year I worked with the BBC on a morning radio broadcast and TV appearance based on the KonMarie tidying method by the goddess of tidying ‘Marie Kondo’. We covered how the book and Netflix series helped myself and my family through traumatic time, such as my brothers attempted suicide. We discussed how tidying and decluttering has helped our mental health and continue to embrace that method throughout our lives.
Although I was deemed ‘KonMarie Pro’ I take this lightly and like to find my own way of embodying the method with my own twist, so please don’t judge me if my folding technique isn’t mastered. I am shown in my vlog using boxes to separate and organise my clothes and layout my items in the drawer in a stacked upright position. I have not colour coordinated and haven’t fully stuck to Marie’s method of dark shades moving into light, but I’m happy with my method intertwined with hers.
I do believe that something as simple as reorganising your bedside table and wardrobe can have a huge impact on your mental and emotional wellbeing, bringing in fresh starts, clear surroundings and maybe even a clear mind.
Gift Wrapping & Kitty issues
At the end part of the video, I am wrapping some gifts for my nephews 2nd birthday and during the process my cat decided she wanted to sleep on the wrapping paper as I was trying to wrap the first gift!
She was too adorable to move, so I thought I’d leave her to enjoy as I wrapped the other gifts first hehe! Life of a cat mum.
Do your pets ever do anything like that? I’d love to hear your stories of your cute pets being super inconveniencing hehe.
