Nowadays we are trying to be environmentally friendly in so many more ways which is fantastic! One way companies are hugely improving is by reducing plastic use and finding new and fun ways of being plastic free to help reduce waste and how much plastic we use in our homes. By making products ‘naked’ and packaging free we are doing our part towards helping our environment and I think it is a wonderful thing for companies to be supporting and embracing.
One company in particular who are up there with their environmental approach is LUSH Cosmetics. I am lucky enough to live in a city where they have one of the biggest LUSH spas in the world. They area fantastic company with lovely staff, great approaches, whimsical and quirky products and a mission I live for! So I teamed up with LUSH PR to create a post about reducing plastic in our bathrooms at home.
Shampoo and conditioner
So many of us, if not most will use the usual bottled shampoo and conditioner right? I am certainly someone who has only been using bottled shampoo and conditioner and like many I sit and realise just how many bottles of Shampoo alone we go through and therefore how many plastic bottles we are getting rid of each year. When you add it up per month over a year, you will be astonished at how many bottles and plastic packaging just from your hair care you will be throwing away and it is insane.
This is why I approached LUSH about this post and if they would recommend some naked shampoo and conditioner bars. They were kind enough to send me them and I must say I am delighted. I was slightly apprehensive at first as I wasn’t sure how it would be going from bottles liquid hair product to solid, naked product. But I absolutely love them!
Angel Hair shampoo bar
This angel hair shampoo bar is glorious! It’s beautifully scented with rose water, witch hazel and ylang ylang which come with their own beneficial properties. Rose water and witch hazel are super calming and soothing whilst ylang ylang gently stimulates and tones for a healthy scalp, finished off with aquafaba adding strength and shine. The perfect combination for beautifully cared for hair!
This shampoo bar is easy to use and long lasting. It lathers insane amounts with very little use giving your hair the care it needs with this angelic product. Hair feels squeaky clean after using this heavenly bar! I certainly recommend
American cream conditioner bar
American cream will lead you on the path to your American dream hehe. Super cliché but so true. This conditioner bar took some getting used to as it isn’t as lather-y as the shampoo which makes sense! But after a while of warming it up in my hands it did start to give some beautifully smooth product that I ran through my dry locks of hair. It was a lovely relief for my hair and honestly smells divine with strawberry and orange juice. It really is a cocktail of genius! Both Strawberry and orange juice enhance shine whilst the use of hydrolysed wheat gluten acts as a repairing ingredient to help split ends bind. This conditioner bar also helps give hair a thicker and more volumised bounce with the addition of agave syrup! If you’re trying to decrease plastic, this is a fantastic conditioner to reach for time and time again and last ages.
Naked skincare!
Alongside the hair care I was also gifted some packaging free naked skincare. These consisted of Sleepy face naked cleansing balm, Full of grace naked facial oil and Argan naked facial oil. All three are absolutely beautiful products to use as part of my skincare routine. One of the greatest things is the mind easing part of not using any plastic and reducing my plastic wastage that little bit more!
Sleepy face naked cleansing balm is my ultimate dream come true. It is calming with the use of lavender oil, uses lavender absolute to sooth and release a beautiful fragrance and moisturises and conditions skin with luscious almond oil all coming together to create a beautiful product for your routine. This cleansing balm is easy to use, long lasting and perfect for your evening skincare routine, definitely part of my personal perfect evening routine!
Full of grace naked facial oil is a literally what it says in it’s name. It most certainly a product full of grace perfect for your face (Hehe see what I did there?). It’s beautifully conditioning with help from the Murumuru butter, almond oil and portobello mushrooms alongside rose petal and rose oil which helps restore, tone and soothe skin. This oil is perfect for your skincare routine, easy to use, store and super long lasting with no waste!
Argan facial oil is the last waste free product I will speak about but I must say it is absolutely delightful! This oil richly moisturises and rejuvenates with the key ingredient of Argan oil alongside conditioning, softening and moisturising with the help of cocoa, shea butter and pear oil, whilst rose hip oil helps with it’s vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidant flavonoids.
All products here are absolutely beautiful. They look great, smell incredible and really do help reduce plastic waste and go towards helping the environment. They are all packaging free and help to create a plastic-less bathroom! It feels amazing seeing these products in my bathroom having the peace of mind of creating a better and more looked after world bit by bit. I most certainly recommend them!
I hope you have enjoyed this post! Have you tried any of these products? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Stay wonderful!
