What is your morning routine like? If you find yourself quickly getting out of bed after missing the alarm, and rushing to work without a decent breakfast inside of you, then you aren’t doing much for your mental wellbeing at all. You will likely be stressed out before the morning has begun, compounded by lacking energy because you haven’t nourished your body.
Your morning routine shouldn’t be rushed at all. So, even if you have to get out of bed a little earlier, consider the following to better support your mental wellbeing.
Throw open your curtains
Exposure to sunlight in the morning can aid our wakefulness and make us feel instantly happier. So, don’t stumble around in the dark after getting out of bed. Throw open those curtains and bask in the light and warmth of the sun (assuming it’s not raining) as you’re preparing for your day.
Make your bed
Making your bed should only take you a few minutes. You will feel better after doing so, as not only will your bedroom look tidier, but your self-esteem will rise after accomplishing this task. You will feel better later in the day too, as if you have to return to your bedroom, your mood won’t dampen because of a messy-looking bed.
Eat something healthy
A quick bite of a biscuit isn’t the right way to start your day. You need to eat something that will energise both your body and mind, so consider these healthy breakfast ideas. You will experience more energy if you do, and especially if you’re prone to feeling groggy in the morning, you will feel more mentally alert too!
Exercise
Exercise produces endorphins, the chemicals that can give you a mental boost during the day, so make time for physical activity before your day properly begins. Potter around in your garden, go for a brisk walk outdoors or use any of these home exercise ideas if the weather is lousy outside.
Calm your mind
A good night’s sleep should calm your mind, but if you still wake up feeling frazzled, do something that will de-stress you before your day starts out in full. Exercise might help in this regard, but you could also take something to calm you, such as CBD Oil or a calming cup of Chamomile tea. You might want to try a few breathing exercises too, or a guided meditation if you need help getting to a place of inner peace.
Write down what you are grateful for
You don’t want to start the day feeling negative about your life, so practise gratitude by listing (or remembering) all the things that are positive in your life. You should elevate your mood this way, and that boost of positivity will be useful to you when you’re going about your day and interacting with others.
Finally
These are just a few ideas but you might be able to add to this list with things that are specific to you. But whatever you do, remember to do those things that will aid your mental wellbeing and not stress you out before your day has properly begun.
Thank you so much for reading. Remember that your mental wellbeing should be a priority. I hope these tips for your morning routine help.
Stay wonderful!
