Earlyish nights and feeling mentally awake call for a bit of reading πŸ“š I'm loving having @AmazonKindle on my phone. My current go to read on my phone is 'Under one roof' by Ali Hazelwood 😍

A day in the life of me | #BlogtoberWithBoa Day 8

8th October 2020 Be first to comment

For Blogtober day 8 I chose to pick the prompt ‘A day In the life of me’. It is a great way to utilise your different social media platforms and make hourly updates to them to show your followers and document what you do in your daily life. As said in my last Twitter post of the day today, I wrote about how people show the parts of their day that they want to show and that there are the struggles, twists and turns that happen behind the scenes that we don’t necessarily show.

Each day is different and whether you have a routine or not, there are things that happen that will test us each day. So here is my ideal and normal daily routine!

Wake up, stretch, coffee, breathe...

Each morning I’ll set tonnes of alarms to kick start my brain and body to get up. I set them every 10 minutes for 45 minutes so I can be relieved to have another few minutes each time the clock goes off. When it hits 7.15 I get up. I stretch, sit up and switch my vintage warm light on to fill the room with warmth and cosy vibes. I love to pop the waterfall fairy lights on too. It just kicks off the day with a nice warming atmosphere for my tired brain to slowly start functioning for the day.Β

I head down to make coffee and choose my syrup of choice to then take up with me to my room, pop on some quiet music from my Autumn Playlist and then get ready. I try to have a few quiet minutes to get some peace before sorting the kids out for school. It’s certainly needed!Β

Coffee making and toilet in the morning isn’t always straight forward. It’s full of three kids constantly speaking to me, asking questions and complaining of being tired. So it’s not always smooth sailing, although I could let you think that hehe. Like I said above, we post beautiful pictures and updates on media but seldom express these difficult details.

School run or tidying my home

Each week day we have the school run for my two nieces. This means getting myself and them ready whilst juggling one hundred tasks with a single pair of hands. Breakfast, brush teeth, wash face, get uniform on, shoes on, bags ready, break snack ready and hair done! It’s again not always a smooth run. Most mornings it is manic and comes with different problems but we overcome them as always. My mum and I will sometimes take them together or she will do the school run or vice versa.Β

Today I decided to stay home and tidy the house, tidy my boudoir and get some left over work done for the 20 minutes alone time I get! I genuinely enjoy just tidying in peace with some music on and no one else in the house. It gives me time to be alone with my thoughts and find some peace whilst grounding myself making the house upright again!

Delivery time

So, this isn’t necessarily a daily occurrence or my every day life but today I got a package delivered with my new Coffin shelf for my bedside table and I was sooooo excited when it arrived. Since It’s Halloween soon I have ordered some cups, earrings and decor so I am expecting deliveries often and let’s face it, who doesn’t love delivery day? It’s exciting! So this was a great part of my day. Opening my package and putting it up.Β

Work and meetings

Whilst the little one is playing and running around with mum I try to get to my room, sit at my desk and get some work done. Some days I have a meeting or two which take up quite a bit of time and can drain me a little due to my anxiety, but I’m used to it hehe. If I have a work day outside of home or just need to get out, myself, mum and youngest of the kids will head out to our local town for some shopping and a coffee shop visit.

Today I had a meeting and it was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. It was very draining and many tears were shed by my mum and I. We plodded on afterwards and took a little time to ourselves.

Lunch

Around Lunch time I will do some work around the house, on my blog and get to any emails that need attention. I will then take some time to make some lovely lunch! Today I had a sweet chilli and garlic stir fry with some homemade tofu bites. It was delicious. I had an important call half way through lunch following on from the meeting so that was disrupted but that’s just how life is right? I continued my lunch after and enjoyed it just as much! With the little one running around it was a rather noisy lunch and then he wanted to try my food so I savoured every bite I could get!

A little bit of down time

After lunch I decided to stay downstairs, get myself a drink and take 5 minutes of down time. During this time I had some kitty cuddles which ended up with her walking over me and using me as a bridge and then when I sat down my little nephew was just climbing all over me messing with my face whilst I tried to get some work done on my phone.Β

Afternoon school run and homework

So we come to the school run. I will either go alone, mum will go or we will go together to pick up the girls! Today I decided to stay home again, tidy up and get some work done ready for the girls to get home from school. I got the lounge ready for them to get home and do their homework.Β

When they get home they get some cosy house clothes on, eat a snack and get their homework done whilst we are preparing dinner. This afternoon was a difficult one. We had tantrums, crying, spitefulness, shouting and screaming and it was stressful to say the least. The eldest found it hard to do her homework with all of the racket so we had to keep stopping and starting.Β

We finally got through it but even got side tracked by the kitty cats walking all over the homework hehe. Dinner was dished up and the kids watched a film whilst they ate.Β

Bath and winding down

We put the kids to bed and I tidy the lounge whilst mum settles the little one. Once tidy and cosy I run myself a nice bath so I can calmly reflect on the day and get some time to myself to practice some self care. Today I used some new products from the LUSH Halloween range which was lovely. It was a quick one but a lovely one indeed. I put on my new gifted prince of darkness face mask and laid out my witches self care book to read as I soak. To be honest I ended up working on my phone instead of reading (naughty) but still managed to wind down. I promise..

I came out of the bath and did my skin care, got into my cosy PJ’s and headed upstairs to my cosy candlelit bedroom.

Each night I try to get some time with my partner. We either play a video game or watch some programmes together whilst chatting and cosying up together. It’s a nice way to reflect on the day and completely find calm. I did end up doing some bits and bobs on my phone for #BlogtoberWithBOA but did feel super content and ended up getting a nice early night!Β

Reality of our day to day lives

Although my day doesn’t sound very intriguing, let’s face it not everyday is! We all have our own life admin to do, appointments to attend, meetings to go to, unexciting parts of work and life in general and housework too. When we have all of our little things to do they add up and can cause hurdles. Each day will bring new challenges and we will react differently depending on how we feel. Today was an emotional one for me and my family. It was a difficult one and not everything was necessarily ‘Instagrammable’ and that is absolutely ok.Β

I want you to know that your life is ok whether you can show it by beautiful pictures or not. You have nothing to prove. Also remember that not everything it as it seems and try not to judge everything at face value like Instagram pictures or perfect Pinterest aesthetics. There is always a story behind a picture. I I have my Ideal perfect evening routine but most of the time that routine won’t be smooth sailing and that’s ok. That’s life.Β

Thank you so much for reading! What does a day in the life of you look like? Remember that it’s ok to not have a perfect day! You’re human.Β

Here is my unboxing of my first Pause subscription box in April!

April was all about reading and finding calm through reading. In order to embrace pausing though reading, this month included a task where we make Pompom book marks.

With green yarn it was lovely to follow the guide and find calm whilst making a little pompom bookmark.
