Believe it or not. Spring is here. And with the change of seasons, it is a great time to make changes to your home. After spending a lot of time at home with this whole pandemic mess, you are more than ready for a change of scenery. Well, don’t worry or fret. Let me help you with some of my favorite Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects as well as tips on budgeting.
Paint an Accent Wall
The way to change your scenery quickly is through color. Change the mood of a room immediately by adding an accent wall. You can select from going bold with dark, powerful colors or more subtle with muted colors. The colors that are trending this year are grey and yellow. However, paint your accent wall a color that you connect with. You can polish off the look by adding throw pillows, rugs, and other pieces of art throughout the room. My current love is of painted archways; They create depth, cosiness and warmth within a room and mixing the colours like I have here is a great way to keep things creative and unique! Call me imperfect but I don’t always look at creating symmetry.
Peel and Stick Wall Decor
If you don’t want to get out the paintbrushes and ladder, you can easily add a bit of inspiration to a room with peel and stick wall decor. Mindmap your favourite song lyrics or quotes. Then, you can order your custom peel and stick wall decor online. When delivered, you just peel and stick in your desired place. It is easy and not permanent. If you get tired of your quote or want a seasonal change, just peel off and repeat the process. You can even find stars, floral patterns or customise shapes and sizes if you prefer images rather than words.
Rejuvenate Your Bathroom
Most bathrooms are the last room to remodel. But, boy does a little go a long way in the bathroom. You can quickly rejuvenate your bathroom by adding a new vanity. However, let’s face it. The number one rejuvenation trick in the bathroom is a shower upgrade. Changing out the shower head and reworking the tiles are powerful ways to improve your bathroom. However, whenever you are dealing with the showers and tubs, you will need to deal with caulking. Make sure to have the right tools, including a backer rod, to do the job right. When I rejuvenated my bathroom, I had a bath put in and added in a new shower head and mount and I must say it made such a huge difference to the general feel during bath and shower times. It can be simple yet so rewarding!
Start a Windowsill Garden
Indoor plants and gardens are great decor enhancements. You don’t have to have a lot of space or a green thumb. A windowsill garden is a great option. All you need to do is purchase a few pots, dirt, and seeds. Wonderful and edible options are basil and mint. They both grow quickly and are fragrant. After the herbs are ready, you will need to trim them frequently to spark continued growth. So, you might as well eat them, no? Get your refreshing mojito and zesty pesto recipes out.
I have loved finding new succulents, plants and Cacti and making my home more colourful and healthier. The perks of flowers in your home is fantastic! I’ve also fallen in love with my new favourite app called Blossom which helps you keep track of your little home garden and when certain plants need watering.
